Low carb food or diets are made of food items having very low or nil carbohydrate content. To many dieticians vegetables are synonymous with carbohydrate and they even suggest restriction of fruit intake since they contain sugar. Instead of consuming potato, you can increase the intake green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cauliflowers and peppers. You may also opt for carrot sticks and veggie sticks that contain low carbohydrate. Another reason why fruits and vegetables should be parts of your diet is that they are good sources of vitamins, sugar alcohols and flavonoids that protect the body from the ill effect of over absorption of sugar.
Apart from these, you can consume multi-vitamin and mineral supplements to fight deficiency of the nutrients that carbohydrate rich food items contain.
